Getting Access To Arizona Court Records Can Be Done Online
As with so many other tasks that used to be lengthy, tedious and frustrating, the internet has come to the help of anyone wishing to access Arizona court records. In the past, you would have to wade through reams of red tape to do a background check on a person. Today, it can be done online.
Many people are still under the impression that what takes place in an Arizona court is private. This is not so. In actual fact, many court records are considered to be public property. If you want to give someone a job, you can check if he or she has ever been convicted of a criminal offence.
The Arizona Judicial Branch offers members of the public access to court records through its website. Information can be obtained from 153 of the 180 courts in the state. There are however certain case types that are not available via the website.
These include cases involving Orders of Protection that have not yet been served, sealed cases, probate cases, mental health cases, or witness and victim data. In addition, cases regarding juvenile delinquency may not be viewed. However, other cases involving juveniles, such as traffic violations, are displayed.
Other functions of an administrative nature are not included on the website. These include passport applications and other matters being handled by the Superior Court Clerk. The Arizona Judicial Branch further states that there may be other limitations regarding the viewing of case records.
The judiciary does not guarantee that the information is accurate, current, or constitutes a total record of the case. Furthermore, the information may change at any time, and it may not be the official record of a court. Neither should the information be used as a substitution for a comprehensive search for official records.
Those who require access to court cases regularly, such as lawyers or recruitment agencies, can pay an annual subscription fee to the website. In turn, they will be notified by email when the website data is updated. Case information is updated every Wednesday.
The Arizona Judicial website offers other useful facilities. If you are looking for a particular case, you click the 'case search' icon. You will be taken to another page where you can search using the person's name and date of birth. Or, if you know the case number, you can type it in.
There is also an option to 'view court video'. You can watch live and archived court proceedings. Archived footage is arranged according to date order. You can click on 'oral argument' and watch the case with documents. Alternatively, click on 'case summary/opinion' to view the documents only. The site also contains other useful links relative to the Arizona Supreme Court.
There are other independent websites that can help you access court records. To locate these, simply ask the search engine to look for 'Arizona court records' and a number of sites will emerge. Another option is to hire a professional company to access the records on your behalf. Obviously, in this case, a fee will be charged.
